One Solider at a Time began when Ronald Simmons, Youth Matter Board of Director, was deployed to Iraq while in the U.S. Marines. The youth decided to prepare care packages for him, and that birthed the beginning of "One Soldier at A Time".

We continue to send care packages to members of the armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Miss Andolyn Medina of Chesapeake, has made the "One Solider at A Time" project a part of her platform in volunteerism.
