Help us help youth and families affected by Hurricane Harvey, through our ONE FAMILY AT A TIME Initiative, where our goals are: To provide individual assistance to youth and families affected by Hurricane Harvey. From August 28 through September 30, 2017, your donation through the PayPal Giving Fund enables Youth Matter Inc to help meet the needs of children displaced, and support schools and teachers affected by Hurricane Harvey. Any donation you can spare, no matter how large or small, is appreciated.

Youth Matter, Inc. is trying to find children that can commit to being pen pals to Hurricane Harvey youth. Do you know of any children that would like to be pen pals? Make it a class project! Email us at our contact form if you are interested.

HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF 2005 - 2006
HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Provided collected clothing and shoes to families and children.
- Supplemented housing rents.
- Collected and purchased school supplies, donated to displaced children.
- Provided funds for purchase of household items, medical aids,
linen, bedding, medicine, doctor appointments.
- Found resources for special
needs of individuals / families.
- Helped families relocated to NC, MS, TX, AL,
FL, SC, TN, VA, and MD
A SAMPLING OF AID WE PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUAL FAMILIES:
- Family A
- We purchased articles of clothing for her two sons, the urbanwear items they like, through eBay, getting some affordable prices — we understand the need for teenagers to feel like they fit in.
- We wired $200 to the mom in LA to help her with car problems she encountered on their trip back to Charlotte
- A one-time mini-grant of $2,000 to assist with clothing for boys, car maintenance, and Christmas
- New coats donated for her 2 sons.
- Family B
- We purchased $1,130 in new clothing for mom and her daughter. Items included three pairs of shoes for
each, a coat for each, blouses, tops, jeans, dress pants, underwear, bras, etc.
- We also donated items received from our collected items which were: iron, ironing board, space heater, fan,
vacuum cleaner, other misc items.
- Family C
- We have found a corporate sponsor out of Michigan who sponsored this entire family’s needs, excluding
large furniture pieces, sending them 55 boxes to include household items, clothing for all of the family, and
Christmas.
- They provided clothing for the two adults and 4 children
- A one-time mini-grant of $2,000 to assist with moving expenses to another house — their present home had an incident where they could not continue to live there..
- The weekend of Thanksgiving, $5,000 was gifted to them to from one of our sponsors so they could purchase furniture for their house.
- Family D
- $5,000 to assist with clothing for children, older brother, and her boyfriend who had heart transplant during
Katrina, and Christmas
- New coats were donated for her son and daughter.
- Family E
- $1,500 to assist with clothing for girls, utilities and Christmas
- New coats are being donated for her 2 daughters.
- St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church
- A one-time mini-grant of $700 to aid a Katrina evacuee in need.
